Our simple IV Ketamine Treatment Program:
Step 1: Complimentary Office Consultation
I will review your history of depression, face to face, in my Private Office, and determine if it meets criteria for Treatment Resistance, or, if their is any other Medical indication that Ketamine would be a preferred or recommended treatment. Alternatives to Ketamine will be looked for and presented to you with explanation.
If Ketamine is not an appropriate treatment for you, a list of reasonable options will be given to you to present to your personal physician for consideration. There is no fee in this case.
If Ketamine is indicated, and/or preferred by you, I will send in orders to Herro Medical Center.

Step 2: Intravenous Ketamine at Herro Medical Center/Dental on Central
You will receive two Ketamine treatments spaced apart within 1 week. You will complete a 9 question depression checklist before treatment #1.
Before the first treatment, Dr. Ellison Herro will perform a pre-anesthetic exam, review your Medical History, and answer any questions you may have. Dr. Herro will administer the IV Ketamine, monitor the proper dosage, and remain on site. He and his staff will be able to access me if there are any questions about the Psychiatric aspects of your care (Dr. Herro has my personal cellphone number).

Step 3: Follow Up Phone Consultation
Approximately 24 hours after your second Ketamine treatment, you complete a follow-up depression checklist at home.
Shortly after, I contact you that evening to see how you are feeling overall, and find out the results of your depression checklist.
If you are feeling better, and the depression checklist numbers look positive, than we design an IV Ketamine treatment schedule for you. Some patients may need followup treatments as little as every 2 to 4 weeks.
If no improvement is noted, we go back to Step 1, and review any alternatives to IV Ketamine.

Costs:
Step 1: Office Consultation for IV Ketamine with examination for alternatives: No Charge: $0.00
Step 2: Pre-Anesthetic evaluation and 2 (two) IV Ketamine Treatments, and,
Step 3: Follow Up Phone Consultation including Treatment Plan if Ketamine effective,
or, alternative recommendations given if no improvement with Ketamine.
Steps 2 and 3: $800: that is $400 per IV Ketamine treatment for the first two treatments. This includes my monitoring of before and after results.
Follow- Up Maintenance IV Ketamine treatments, every 2 to 4 weeks are $400 per
treatment. This is the average rate around The Valley in other centers, however, none offer the same M.D. Anesthesiologist administering the treatment every time. Many use Nurses to administer Ketamine, and most have no Psychiatric oversight. Those that do have Psychiatrists, only have experience in TMS, a low level form of treatment in mild to moderate Treatment Resistant Depression (they do not utilize ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy for severe depression in a Hospital setting, and, do not prescribe MAOI's or off-label Depression Treatments, as I do).
I will make sure the diagnosis is correct and appropriate for IV Ketamine. Often it is not, and I will be honest in my recommendations for or against IV Ketamine.
I will not oversell you Ketamine; in two treatments we will know if Ketamine has a chance of success. I believe it is unethical to sell patients "packages" of 4, 6, or even 8 treatments as a trial.
